Urgent Care: Walk-ins Welcome!

In urgent situations (during office hours or after), The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends calling your pediatrician’s office first, even if you know the office is closed. We are accustomed to taking phone calls at all times—day and night—and can often deal with problems over the phone.

During office hours, we can schedule same-day appointments to see one of our doctors. If your child has a true medical emergency, please dial 9-1-1 or go to the nearest hospital emergency room.

Southeastern Peds is the only pediatric healthcare facility to accept walk-ins and see sick children after normal office hours seven days a week. You can trust our team of physicians, with more than 200 years combined experience, to be here for your family when you need us!

We use both Flowers Hospital and the Southeast Alabama Medical Center for our hospitalization needs.

Phone Nurse

We gladly offer the option to speak with a nurse on the phone between the hours of 7:30 am – 5:00 p.m. Please note that this line stays very busy, and should be reserved for important medical information. These calls may be brief as it may be determined that your child might be better served by seeing one of our physicians in the office. Please consider using your Patient Portal to message a doctor, and a nurse will return your message via the Patient Portal or a phone call.

Emergencies

If your child has a true medical emergency, please call 9-1-1 or go to the nearest hospital emergency room.

If you have an urgent medical problem or medical question after hours, you should call our office number: 334-794-8656. Our  answering service will take your message, and forward it to a nurse who will return your call. If necessary, the nurse will be in contact with one of our physicians who will advise how to proceed.

Appointment Information

We recommend arriving 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time in order to allow for check-in prior to your scheduled time. Please bring your insurance card, and be sure to make our front desk aware of any changes to your address, phone number or personal information. Please bring any appropriate paperwork from other doctor’s visits, or forms that our office has asked you to complete.

Routine Appointments

All well child visits, routine appointments and follow up appointments will be scheduled during our normal office hours, Monday-Friday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Same Day Appointments

Sometimes, you need an appointment for a sick child, and we are happy to schedule your child a same day appointment during our office hours. Simply call our office and speak with one of our appointment clerks for the best time. You may request to see a particular physician. We will do our best to accommodate your request; however we may have to suggest another provider based on appointment availability.

Walk-Ins Welcome Anytime

We are open seven days a week and after hours for your convenience! You may walk in at anytime with your sick child, and one of our pediatricians will see you as quickly as possible. Please note: There may be longer wait times when you walk in without an appointment. You may request a physician; however, typically you will see the first provider with an available opening.

Immunizations

If your child has had an appointment with one of our physicians in the last year, but only needs immunizations, you do not need an appointment. Typically, we will give immunizations during normal office hours (8 – 11 am & 1 -4 pm). Please call the office to determine the best time to bring your child.
